Newsprint Juggling Clubs
Newsprint juggling clubs

Below is a way of making practice juggling clubs from newspapers. They are balanced
the same as my own clubs, and are very inexpensive to make.

You will need (for a set of 3):

30 full sheets of newsprint. (A Sunday Paper works well)
A roll of electrical tape.
Scissors

Each club uses ten sheets of paper. Lay out the sheets with the edges lined up. Fold
one of the sides of the sheets to the center fold. Cut all ten sheets. You should now
have a stack of three-quarter width sheets and one-quarter width sheets.

Divide the quarter-width sheets into:

6 sheets with no folds

3 sheets folded length-wise once

1 sheet folded length-wise 4 times. This is the knob of the club.

Next, roll the three-quarter sheets starting at the bottom. Note: This must be done as
tightly as possible to ensure a firm handle. I fold the first few turns about a quarter of an
inch at a time. Once the handle is rolled, roll the full width, quarter-sheets about an inch
from the end. Then, roll the half-width, quarter sheet in the middle of the quarter-
sheets. This makes the body of the club.

Secure the body with a short length of tape. Next, roll the knob onto the other end of the
club. Make the knob as tight as possible. Secure the knob and handle with a short
length of tape.

Cover the ends of the club with tape. I find a 3-way “X” is just enough to cover the ends.

Starting at the knob, cover the club in a spiral moving with the folds of paper.

The completed club! Do this two or more times for your set and decorate. I find that
white tape on the handles make them easier to see.
